Booking systems for barbers in the UK: prices, commission and what each does

Booksy, Fresha and Treatwell are marketplaces that can send you new clients, for a share of their first booking. Squire, Setmore, SeatBooker and Barbify charge a monthly fee and no commission. Here is what each one costs a barbershop, and what it does, with a source for every figure.

The short answer

If you want new clients found for you
Booksy, Fresha, Treatwell and SeatBooker list you where people search for a barber. Fresha takes 20% of a new marketplace client’s first booking (minimum £4), Treatwell 35%, and Booksy 30% (minimum £5) only with Boost on. SeatBooker charges no commission.
If your clients already know you
Squire (from UK£20 a month), Setmore (free for up to 4 users), SeatBooker (from £0 for 12 months, then from £19) and Barbify (free for 30 bookings a month; Irish, in euros) charge no commission.
If you want deposits
Booksy, Fresha, Squire, Setmore (Pro), Barbify (Pro, through your own payment provider) and Treatwell take payments or deposits.
If you miss calls mid-cut
None of these says on its pages that it texts back a missed call; Booksy, Fresha, Squire and Treatwell sell call answering instead. Keep Booked texts the caller straight back with your booking link, from £39 a month.

What commission comes to on a £20 cut

A new client finds you on a marketplace and books a £20 cut. Before VAT, which each of these adds to its fees:

  • Fresha: 20% is £4. You keep £16.
  • Booksy, with Boost on: 30% is £6. You keep £14.
  • Treatwell: 35% is £7. You keep £13.

That is once per new client: Fresha and Treatwell charge nothing on returning clients, and Booksy charges nothing when Boost is off. A client who finds you through your own link, Instagram or Google costs no commission on any of them.

One chair or four

One chair

For one barber, the published monthly fees run from £0 (Setmore’s free plan, SeatBooker’s Starter for 12 months, Barbify’s free plan for 30 bookings a month) to £40 + VAT (Booksy). Fresha’s Independent plan is £14.95 and Squire’s is UK£20. Treatwell doesn’t publish its fee.

Four chairs

The way each one charges for staff changes the sum. As each company publishes its prices, before any VAT: Fresha’s Team plan at £9.95 per team member is £39.80 a month for four. Booksy is £40 plus £5 for each of three more, £55. Squire charges per shop, not per barber: UK£30 on Pro. SeatBooker’s Plus is £29 plus £5 for each of three more seats, £44 at the full price. Barbify’s Team plan is €47.96 for up to five. Setmore is free for up to 4 users, and $12 per user a month (about £9 at $1.32 = £1 on 30 Sep 2026) on Pro.

Keep Booked charges by logins, not barbers: 1 on Starter, 2 on Solo and 6 on Team, then £10 a month each. A shop where each of four barbers wants their own login is on Team, at £149 a month.

Where Keep Booked fits

Keep Booked is for a shop whose customers ring it. When you can’t answer, the caller gets a text straight back with your booking link, and books the barber they want at a time that’s really free. It sends a confirmation and a reminder, asks for Google reviews, and keeps each barber’s own hours and prices.

It isn’t a marketplace, so it won’t send you new clients, and it charges no commission on the ones you have. It doesn’t take payments, so there are no deposits and no card fees.

Who it suits

  • A shop that already gets calls, and misses some of them mid-cut.
  • A shop that would rather pay a fixed monthly price than a share of new clients.

Who it doesn’t

  • A new shop that wants a marketplace to send it clients.
  • A shop that wants deposits or card payments taken when someone books.

Questions

Is there a booking system for barbers with no commission?

Yes. Squire, Setmore, SeatBooker and Barbify publish no commission on bookings, and nor does Keep Booked. Fresha and Treatwell take a share of a new client’s first booking when their marketplace sends that client; Booksy does only when you turn Boost on.

What’s the difference between a marketplace and a booking system?

A booking system takes bookings from people who already know you: from your link, your Instagram or Google. A marketplace also lists you in its own app or website, where people looking for a barber nearby can find you, and that is what its new-client commission pays for.

Can I keep my walk-ins?

With Keep Booked, yes: give the walk-in chair no online hours, and add walk-ins to the diary as they sit down, so an online booking never lands on top of them.

Does Keep Booked take deposits?

No. It doesn’t take payments, so there are no card fees and no deposits; your customers pay you the way they do now. It sends a confirmation and a reminder before each booking, with a link to change or cancel, instead. Plans start at £39 a month.

How we checked

We read every price on 6 October 2026 on the company’s own website, except any marked third-party: that company doesn’t publish the figure, so we’ve linked the site we took it from. Where a company doesn’t publish a price, the table says so and links the page we checked. Prices are given as each page gives them; where a page says a price is plus VAT or ex VAT, so do we. Setmore publishes in US dollars, which we give with a rough conversion at $1.32 to £1, the rate on 30 September 2026; Barbify publishes in euros only, which we give as published.

Prices change, so check the company’s own page before you buy. Seen a figure that’s wrong or out of date? Email shane@keepbooked.co.uk or talk to us, and we’ll correct it.
